Job Description:

  • Advise the executive capital review meeting and the IT project Review Board around opportunities to be gained from portfolio planning across the CAPEX and IT portfolios.
  • Provide day to day project management for IT and support the IT leadership through managing the IT portfolio projects from detailed planning through effective execution and post go live value realization tracking and reporting. Drive the discipline of proper project management methodology across the entire IT portfolio of projects through effective governance and controls.
  • Maintain and improve a robust governance process that captures, reports and escalates project status across all measurable project characteristics, informing SWM's senior stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Create, maintain, and evolve PMO infrastructure, tools, and best practices that can be leveraged across the organization is support of all projects.--
  • Ensure the management and reporting of project/program dependencies and ensure proactive management of dependencies in projects/programs.
  • Produce consolidated reporting of active IT projects for the IT Leadership and Executive Capital Review, highlighting the health status of the portfolio and supporting commentary on remedial actions to be undertaken to re-baseline any failing activity.
  • Advise and provide support to all IT projects on the preparation of documentation, including review board Decision Papers, required for stage gate submissions.
  • Participate and provide information into the Benefits tracking activities as managed by SWM's business stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships into SWM's Finance department, ensuring alignment between the budget tracking of the IT PMO's portfolios and the wider Finance reporting. Lead discussions with Finance to ensure budget tracking for IT projects.
  • Manage and coordinate stakeholder engagement and communication across projects/programs on a timely basis.
  • Maintain good stakeholder relationships with projects and programs within the portfolio.
  • Partner with respective teams to build and implement a change management plan.
  • Travel domestically up to 20%.
  • Other duties as assigned. Education/Certifications:
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college preferably in Computer Science, MIS or Business Management with over 15 years of experience in Information Technology and at least 8 years of experience in project and program management.
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) or other project management certification preferred. Required Skills:
      • Experience using PPM tools E.g. Microsoft Office / Project / SharePoint (essential)
      • Deep understanding and experience of project and risk management in industrial environments
      • Senior level end to end project management experience in complex environments
      • Track record prioritizing and managing pipeline
      • Experience in establishing and implementing standards, methodologies, systems and processes
      • Experience in influencing, developing and leading a team
      • Advanced reporting and analysis skills and experience
      • Experience with business Change Management techniques
      • Strong stakeholder engagement, relationship management and communication skills
      • Computer skills to include advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
      • Demonstrated experience managing projects and motivating global teams within multiple disciplines.
      • Highly motivated individual performing at a high level in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
      • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
      • Strong presentation skills at all levels of the organization.
      • Experience in project management of both Infrastructure and business applications
      • Experience in managing large and complex ERP projects is a plus
