The successful candidate will be responsible for design, development, and commercialization of molding processes and equipment for existing products and new medical devices. They will work with Marketing, Project leaders and Plant based teams to create/redefine products and associated specifications through innovative and robust processing solutions. They will also be expected to assist in quality system compliance and regulatory filings with the FDA and other agencies outside the United States. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering and 5 years' experience in molding industry - medical experience preferred or 10 years' experience within the Medical Molding Industry Hands on injection molding and tooling experience Working Knowledge/Experience with Scientific Molding principles and techniques Experience conducting on the press scientific molding studies Experience with hot manifold systems, E-dart, in mold sensors Knowledge/experience with plastic joining technologies such as solvent, ultrasonic welding, adhesives etc Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as appropriate based on health guidelines - up to 60% percent Competencies: Strong team-oriented professional with good interpersonal skills and project management experience Must be able to work in a dynamic environment with little supervision or daily direction Strong communication skills Well versed in molding and machining methods Experience providing design engineering assistance to project teams leveraging DFA/DFM principles Hands on injection molding and tooling experience including experience Conducting on the press scientific molding studies Process troubleshooting - mold and press Understanding of tool design, troubleshooting, and component qualification including experience in: Generating technical RFQ documentation Leading injection mold design reviews Familiarity with FEA simulation for mold flow, warp etc. Making steel and mold modification decisions Creating mold validation and FAT protocols Creating mold transfer documentation packages Creating part inspection documentation Ability to perform in-depth engineering and statistical analyses Ability to identify molding and tooling and process effciency improvement opportunities and presenting to senior management Experience in working with vendors and vendor management Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project,Minitab, etc. Demonstrated proficiency in SolidWorks to view, design and modify plastic parts, injection molds and part and mold drawings. General knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing. Application of statistical and analytical methods such as SPC, SQC and DOE. General knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, and Risk Tools. Working knowledge of GMP and ISO regulations (Design Controls). Comply with applicable FDA and international regulatory laws/standards and the Avanos Code of Conduct. Additional Preferred Competences: RJG Master Molder 1 Certification 3 years plastic part design experience. 3 years Project Management experience Experience with silicone molding Experience with extrusion Experience with insert molding and over molding. Experience with robots, EOAT and post mold automation. Experience with vision systems and component inspection Experience in Gage design, MSA and GRR.
