community and opportunity. What You Will Be Doing The Building
Engineering Director (Aviation) is the senior on-site leader and
operational authority responsible for the safe, reliable, and
efficient delivery of Facilities Operations and Maintenance across
the Central Passenger Terminal Complex. Operating within a 24/7
mission-critical airport environment, this role provides strategic
leadership, oversees multi-trade engineering teams, ensures
performance-based contract compliance, and serves as the primary
liaison to airport stakeholders. The Building Engineering Director
serves as the senior operational authority, delivering disciplined
execution, operational stability, and consistent performance in a
highly visible, mission-critical environment while safeguarding the
company’s financial performance and reputation. This is an
in-person position located in Atlanta, GA . Building Engineering
Director (Aviation) Duties & Responsibilities Provide overall
leadership for engineering operations supporting a 24/7/365 airport
campus. Develop and execute operating plans that drive reliability,
efficiency, safety, and service excellence. Serve as the primary
escalation leader for critical system failures and operational
disruptions. Ensure continuous management coverage across all
shifts and maintain strong operational discipline. Oversee
preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance programs utilizing
CMMS platforms. Drive contract performance where staffing, work
completion, and inspection outcomes directly impact revenue.
Establish rigorous quality control processes, inspections, and
reporting standards. Develop and lead a formal safety program
focused on risk reduction and regulatory compliance. Recruit,
develop, and lead highly skilled technical and management
personnel. Partner with airport leadership in regular operational
reviews and performance meetings. Support capital projects,
warranty programs, and critical infrastructure upgrades. Oversee
planning and execution of utility shutdowns and other high-risk
activities. Protect sensitive airport operational systems including
communications, navigation, and security infrastructure. Own
operational budgets, cost controls, and financial performance while
identifying opportunities for efficiency and cost avoidance.
Building Engineering Director (Aviation) Requirements &
Qualifications. Minimum 10 years of progressive engineering or
facilities leadership experience. Airport or similarly complex
transportation hub experience is strongly preferred. Experience in
a mission-critical, 24/7, high-public-facing environment (aviation,
healthcare, data centers, transportation hubs, large campuses,
etc.) highly desired. Proven leadership within performance-based
service environments preferred. Able to complete and pass all TSA
and CBP screening and badging requirements for airport security
clearance. Education Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical,
Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline required.
