Vice President, Risk Management Job Location(s) US-GA-Alpharetta Posted Date 2 months ago (11/19/2020 5:37 PM) Job ID 2020-4464 Company Jackson Healthcare, LLC Category Other Overview The VP, Risk Management will work with the Chief Risk officer to lead the company's Risk Management department to ensure that all procedures, protocols, and loss prevention strategies are fully implemented to protect the company and its assets. The candidate will assist with multi-line coverge, policy management (plus claims), and will be responsible for managing a nation-wide workers compensation program and self-insurance. This individual will work closely with executives and senior leaders within the operating companies and at JH Corporate. Description

  • Promotes and cultivates a strong risk management culture within Jackson Healthcare
  • Maintains effective, interactive communications on risk management related issues with relevant parties, including operating companies, senior executives, regulators, auditors, etc.
  • Works with team to help establish and execute on the strategic risk management vision
  • Evaluates potential risks and exposures to the company; determines how to effectively minimize those risks and develop procedures that can be implemented
  • Designs a program around the evaluation of risks to be retained and to be transferred in the procurement of commercial insurance, self-insurance, and captive insurance as applicable.
  • Participates in (and regularly leads) the formulation, interpretation and application of the Company's policies and procedures as they pertain to risk management, liability claims, workers' compensation claims, auto claims, occupational health and safety regulations, workplace accommodations and other related issues
  • Leads a team and works alongside them performing day-to-day risk management activity and/or duties
  • Manages employee and business process compliance activity relating to risk management across the Jackson family of companies
  • Coordinates, monitors and evaluates, with appropriate staff, the company's occupational health, safety and emergency management programs to ensure employee well-being and compliance with all federal/state, OSHA, ADA, and related regulations
  • Prepares and monitors annual departmental budget for areas of responsibility and responsible for providing budgetary guidance for those areas; authorizes expenditures according to Company policy and uses actuarial data to properly accrue IBNR, case and loss development reserves as required
  • Conducts due diligence associated with new business initiatives
  • Routinely provides risk management updates, direction, and guidance to document approvals and/or objections, where applicable
  • Manages assigned employees; appraises performance and provides technical direction and guidance
  • Ability to serve as the company representative for mediations, trials, etc.
  • ACts as a fiduciary of the company's assests and conducts business in a transparent manner
  • Other duties as assigned Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred
    • 10-15 years of progressive experience in risk management, including procurement and management of commercial insurance: workers compensation, auto, EPL, E&O, GL and property
    • Experience running self-insurance, and captive insurance programs
    • 7+ years' experience managing/leading a team within a risk management context
    • Prior experience in healthcare or healthcare staffing is a plus
    • Experience using Ventiv or similar Risk Management Information System Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
      • Principles and practices of risk, occupational health, safety, and emergency management
      • Workers compensation, auto, EPL, E&O, GL and property coverage
      • Procurement and management of commercial insurance, and knowledge to run self-insurance, and captive insurance programs
      • Understanding of state and federal OSHA, NCQA, ADA, Affordable Care Act, FMLA requirements.
      • General knowledge of insurance cost allocation principles to multiple entities
      • Clinical terminology and understanding of healthcare - the delivery system, continuity of care, and treatments/procedures
      • Current trends, techniques and thinking to respond to the ever-changing risk and insurance landscape, including alternative risk financing
      • Records retention guidance for federal, state, and municipalities
      • Claims litigation management
      • Ability to maintain confidentiality
      • Ability to lead and deliver cross-functional initiatives to provide risk assessment guidance, risk recognition, loss mitigation, and design enhancements
      • Highly collaborative with the ability to work with internal/external business partners at all levels
      • Data-driven and analytical, with the ability to conduct risk management and risk avoidance analysis, evaluate statistical data and trends, and develop tracking metrics
      • Displays a strategic mindset, with strong critical thinking and problem-solving ability
      • Highly organized, and able to manage multiple projects from inception to completion
      • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation) and executive presence
      • Ability to lead, inspire and manage a team of insurance professionals and administrators
      • Ability to handle difficult communication regarding employee complaints
