The Opportunity: As part of a larger Cloud Services Delivery team reporting to the Sr. Director of Cloud Service Delivery, the Sr. Director of Database Service Delivery will be responsible for driving success for the OpenText cloud based solutions utilizing the Oracle, MS-SQL and other DB environments.-- We are looking for an objectives-driven, hands-on leader who is detail-oriented, time and cost-conscious, and a talented innovator. You will demonstrate an exceptional level of team building and the intuition to recognize and direct the varying elements of project and personnel demands that drive a successful technology company forward. You have the ability to make sound decisions after carefully gathering and evaluating the facts.-- You are good at:

  • Manage technical teams worldwide that support the Oracle installations for the Business Network
  • Provide technical and project management direction
  • Ensure Oracle DB and underlying technology is running current/supported software versions
  • Ensure that Business continuity requirements are met through proper disaster recovery, backup, and recovery methods. Ensure that real-time DB replication is current for DR configurations.
  • Manage DB capacity evaluations and projected needs.
  • Prioritizing time against project lists in a changing environment--
  • Provide technical thought leadership to internal and external contacts
  • Ensuring security policies are adhered
  • Communicating departmental requirements and working effectively with other internal departments--
  • Regularly assessing team compliance with established policies and procedures--
  • Develop tactics to achieve goals defined by senior leadership
  • Recruits, hires & trains staff; fosters a successful & positive team environment
  • Drives, manages, and executes the business and revenue goals
  • Act as the visionary and champion for high value customers
  • Meet with internal and external partners and customers
  • Participate and lead Incident calls when necessary
  • Ensure that proper monitoring and alerting is in place on all DB installations, along with defined response procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize work and organize resources in order to effectively deliver team objectives. What it takes:
    • Minimum 7 years Director/Manager experience in an Enterprise Operations / IT
    • Proven success mentoring and managing DBAs
    • Experience managing employees in diverse geographic regions
    • Sound understanding of major storage and backup technologies from vendors including (but not limited to) VMware, Oracle.
    • The ideal candidate should have experience working for a company in the technology sector--
    • Must be able to guide teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues
    • Must be able to provide a technical representation of issues and ideas in meetings with peers
    • Strong and current experience in distributed applications and systems technologies--
    • Proven ability to manage diverse, simultaneous projects of varying complexities
    • Literate, communicative, client-friendly and flexible
    • Extensive experience with Oracle DB technologies including RAC, GoldenGate, Grid Control, RMAN, Materialized Views, etc.
    • A proven track record of success (Attitude, Quota Attainment, Activity Levels)
    • Experience presenting strategy and roadmap to internal business leaders
    • Able to function rationally and methodically in a high productivity environment. Additional Skills
