REMOTE USA- DIRECTOR, SOFTWARE ENGINEERING
The Director Software Engineering position is responsible for all
aspects of technology and development leadership for a major
software product(s) or system(s) for the LexisNexis Risk Solutions
Group Healthcare Business focusing on data processing and analysis,
and identity products and services. This position has that sets the
architectural standard for the workgroup as well as providing the
team with day-to-day management and direction to accomplish
on-time, efficient delivery of product development goals.
Additionally, the position has 2-5 direct reports who leads a
development team of 15-20 members to perform research, design, and
software development assignments within a software functional area
and provide direct input to project plans, schedules, and
methodology in the development of cross-functional software
products.
Experience and Education
- 12+ years of Software Development experience
- 5+ years of Software Development management experience
- BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience
required; advanced degree preferred
- Healthcare experience preferred
- Medical claims experience preferred
- Master Data Management experience preferred
- Experience with Azure Cloud migrations a plus
- Data warehouse experience a plus
- Identity linking experience a plus
- Travel requirement of up to 25% or less
Technical Skills
- Expertise and proven competencies in industry technologies and
development trends.
- Knowledge of large complex systems.
- Expertise in one or more SDLCs.
- Strong knowledge of architectural principles.
- Expertise in design and code reviews, and development
approaches.
- Strong proficiency in database technologies, design,
manipulation, optimization, best practices, and leading industry
trend knowledge.
- Strong proficiency with data manipulation language including
optimization techniques.
- Knowledge in normalized and dimensional data modeling
principles and their application to complex business needs.
- Expert knowledge of multiple data storage subsystems.
- Ability to design and work with complex data models.
- Expertise in development languages including but not limited
to: Spark, Python, Java/J2EE, JavaScript, JSP, C/C++, HTML, XML,
SQL, Windows, UNIX, and .Net.
- Proven expert in partnering with and leading internal and
external technology resources in solving complex business
needs.
- Proven experience utilizing Alternative Sourcing Models.
- Expertise and proven experience in both Managed Services and
Staff Augmentation models.
- Expertise in industry best practices in offshore partnership
development.
- Agile Software development process expert in applicable
methodologies.
- Expertise in agile transformations of technology teams.
- Proven ability to lead test-driven development and
maintenance.
- Proven ability to leverage data and metrics to drive effective
business decisions.
- Advanced skills in setting, communicating, implementing, and
achieving business objectives and goals through the direct
management of others.
- Excellent problem-solving experience involving leading teams in
identifying, researching, and coordinating the resources necessary
to effectively troubleshoot/diagnose complex project issues; prior
success extracting/translating findings into
alternatives/solutions; and identifying risks/impacts and schedule
adjustments to facilitate management decision-making.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer
service skills. Strong interpersonal, communication, and
presentation skills applicable to a wide audience including senior
and executive management, customers, etc., including
diction/terminology and presenting information in a concise and
effective manner to clients, management, and various departments
using assorted communication mediums.
- Advanced organization/project planning, time management, and
change management skills across multiple functional groups and
departments, and advanced delegation skills involving prioritizing
and reprioritizing projects and managing projects of various size
and complexity.
- Strong budgeting and finance skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead internal and external technology resources.
- Successfully partner and lead large offshore resources in
solving complex business needs.
- Perform reviews to ensure enterprise and architectural
standards and processes are followed.
- Utilize best practices and understands emerging trends.
- Ability to write advanced complex code for computer systems and
serve as a senior source of expertise.
- Manage all aspects of the SDLC including user acceptance
testing to ensure accurate and quality business solutions.
- Lead the development of technical standards and perform reviews
to ensure enterprise and architectural standards and processes are
followed.
- Serve as a primary technical point of contact for technology
resources.
- Participate in development technology strategies and the
evolution of architecture across functional areas.
- Consult with stakeholders to find alternative work-arounds
during system outages.
- Provide design input across a product.
- Serve as acknowledged "go to" person on coding and technical
issues.
- Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the
organization's policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing
complaints and resolving problems.
- Ensure all staff is provided with training and resources needed
