About Role

The Director, CHS is responsible for overseeing the Cloud Hosting team. Setting goal and objectives, prioritizing projects and assignments. Managing customer escalations and employee retention. Managing, maintaining AWS, Azure and relevant data center environments. Working with customers and internal teams to ensure the highest system uptime and availability. Provides technical mentoring and guidance to staff.

Scope: Participates with other Directors to establish strategic plans and objectives. Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensure operations effective achievement of objectives.

Complexity: Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company. Participates in the corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people. Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.

Supervision: Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area through several department managers within the company. Has overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods.

Interaction: Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers. Interactions frequently involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.

  • Partners with the CIO in providing technology vision and direction for the enterprise.

  • Responsible for all cloud hosting systems design, development and maintenance.

  • Oversees the development of enterprise cloud standards, governance processes and performance metrics to ensure CHS delivers value to the enterprise.

  • Works with the CIO and business leadership team, providing in-depth technical expertise in support of business decisions.

  • Drives development of the technology architecture, infrastructure planning, engineering and deployment.

  • Implements continuous-improvement programs within enterprise guidelines.

  • Identifies and implements best practices for optimizing hosting and operations costs, improving system performance, and ensuring service-level requirements are met.

  • Stays current with developments in new technologies and platforms.

  • Plans, implements, directs and monitors the integration of new technologies into CHS.

  • Manages CHS resource requirements to ensure an appropriate balance between tactical and strategic demands.

  • Directs teams of technical, professional and management staff in the successful fulfillment of service delivery commitments.

  • Facilitates communications across functional groups, user and customer communities.

  • Develops and manages strategic vendor and partnership relationships, procurement strategy.

  • Negotiates contracts with vendors and authorizes procurement.

  • Formulates cloud hosting policies, procedures, performance management processes and measures.

  • Directs the preparation, review and consolidation of CHS plans, budgets and forecasts.

  • Regularly reviews costs and cost structures for CHS services and products. Ensures that financial implications of CHS projects and activities are communicated to the proper CHS and business executives.

  • Directs risk evaluation and compliance management processes.

  • May oversee the execution of high-impact, enterprise-wide, strategic programs or initiatives.

  • May oversee workforce management, including sourcing, training and development of staff.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

    Work Experience (Indicate the approximate years of relevant work experience necessary for this position)

    • 10 or more years in IT and business/industry

    • Five to seven years of leadership responsibilities

    • Five or more years in business/industry, managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders

    • Extensive experience in managing cloud hosting, infrastructure and operations

    • Experience working with off-shore teams is a must

      • Extensive knowledge of cloud and infrastructure planning and operations, design and deployment, as well as system life cycle management

      • Expertise in budget planning, financial management and resource management

      • Strong business acumen and business planning skills

      • Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to effectively deploy resources and manage multiple projects of diverse scopes in a cross-functional environment

      • Ability to improve operational efficiency, service delivery and information management across all lines of business and technology platforms

      • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms, establish rapport and persuade others
