Surgical Tech Location: Marietta, GA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,492 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist Profession: Surgical Techs Specialty: General Surgery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year in a surgical tech role preferred License: High School Diploma or GED Certifications: CST - Certified Surgical Technologist or TS-C(NCCT) - Tech in Surgery - Certified or CSFA - Certified Surgical First Assistant BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor Must-Have: Ability to read, write, and speak the English language. Description: The Certified Surgical Technologist functions under the direction of the registered professional nurse. Assists the healthcare team in providing safe, age-appropriate, and culturally aware patient care. Has knowledge and skills to perform duties within the context of moderate to high acuity surgical cases. Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and other members of the healthcare team. Exhibits an acquisition of additional surgical skills for progressively more difficult cases. Demonstrates an efficient, organized surgical plan for assigned cases. Takes initiative to discuss surgical plans with other members of the healthcare team. Able to troubleshoot instruments and equipment. Anticipates additional supplies or equipment required for procedures. Ability to mentor, precept, or train in various modalities. Participates in performance improvement initiatives. Duties include preparation of the operative suite and surgical field to ensure a safe patient care environment. Maintains the sterile field and other patient safety concerns. Gathers required instruments, supplies, and serves as surgical assistant as needed. Assists with inventory, ordering, and stocking operative rooms and additional perioperative areas as assigned. Ensures that the unit is compliant with standards at all times. Call or late coverage may be required related to the facility. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Has knowledge and ability of the procedure being performed. Anticipates the needs of the surgical team within moderate to high difficulty surgical cases. Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures which include reviewing preference cards. Assists with room set-up including the opening of sterile supplies. Sets up a sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medication needed for procedures. Performs appropriate surgical counts with the circulator. Actively participates in the procedure pause/time-out. Scrubs, gowns, and gloves; gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants. Assists in draping the sterile field. Passes instruments to the surgeon during the procedure while maintaining an organized back table. Offers suggestions throughout the procedure for facilitating cases. Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure. Prepares sterile dressings. Participates in post-procedure pause, including accounting for specimens. Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization. Applies principles of asepsis to ensure prevention of infection. Prepares case carts according to procedures and preference cards. Observes patient conditions and promptly reports any changes. Proactively plans for the next steps during procedures. Maintains the efficiency of preparing operating rooms for receiving patients. Maintains financial stewardship related to supplies and equipment. Provides patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. Maintains teamwork and collaboration with other healthcare providers. Participates in performance improvement initiatives. Completes all initial and annual competencies and required education. Provides a positive learning environment for students and new hires. Strives to incorporate standards of behavior into daily activities. Retains new information and implements new processes or technology introduced. Completes all responsibilities related to the care and organization of surgical equipment. Assumes responsibility for any other duties assigned.
