Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Labor and Delivery - Discipline: RN - Start Date: ASAP - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse – L&D Unit Name: Labor and Delivery Requirements: Must have a valid TN RN License or Compact RN License in good standing Minimum 2 years of L&D experience Certifications Required: AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring, NRP, ACLS, BLS Must Have Skills: 2 years of L&D experience Preferably 1 completed travel contracts Advanced Skills Needed: NRP ACLS BLS AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Common Procedures on Unit: Cervical exams IUPC & FSE placement Vaginal deliveries IV starts with lab draws Circulating cesarean sections Recovering cesarean sections (typically spinal anesthesia; occasional general anesthesia) Unit Specifics Number of Beds: 9 labor rooms, 6 triage rooms, 3 antepartum rooms, 3 ORs Patient Ratios: Laboring: 1:1–2 AP: 1:2–3 C/S & PACU: 1:1 Unit Staffing: OB tech staffed for scrubbing C-sections & assisting vaginal deliveries Dedicated charge nurse (baby nurse) for triage & transport assistance Unit secretary on duty 0700–2300 Documentation Systems: Meditech & Centricity Scheduling Requirements: 3 shifts/week; if scheduled during winter holidays, must work 1–2 days/evenings Floating Policy: May float to Mother Baby (infrequent). Will not float to other departments.
