Job Description Job Description Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1 years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. This position provides an opportunity to work in a progressive stepdown nursing environment located in a newly opening progressive care unit (PCU) in Huntersville, North Carolina. The unit will open in February 2026 and will initially operate at half capacity before growing. It is designed to care for adult patients with complex medical needs, including those with CHF, COPD, tracheostomies, GI bleeds, DKA, sepsis, dialysis, and insulin drips. Key Responsibilities: - Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult stepdown patients, including intravenous therapy, wound care, central line management, NG tube insertion, and cardiac rhythm interpretation. - Administer and titrate drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, heparin, and insulin accurately. - Monitor patients without tele tech support, maintaining vigilance for changes in condition. - Collaborate with respiratory therapists and physicians on patient care. - Utilize EPIC EMR system for documentation and medication administration. - Participate in floating assignments within the regional health system as needed, maintaining a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio on medical-surgical floors. - Engage in unit orientation and ongoing learning, including training for ventilated patient care and Precedex drips as necessary. Desired Qualifications: - Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of PCU experience (candidates with over 5 years of PCU experience may be considered even if they are first-time travelers) - Current BLS and ACLS certifications; NIHSS required. - Proficiency in IV starts, wound care, lab draws, cardiac monitoring, and medication titration. - Comfortable working independently without phlebotomy or telemonitoring support. - EPIC experience preferred. - Willingness to float within scope across multiple regional facilities. Schedule & Location: - Shifts are 12 hours, either 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM. - Weekend rotation averages 6 shifts every 6 weeks. - Holiday coverage expected for 75% of holidays. - Free parking available. - Scrubs: Navy blue.
