during the week Experience: Minimum 1 year in a medical setting
with an associate degree or higher, or minimum 1 year of specific
experience in a medical setting with a high school diploma License:
Required minimum licenses and certifications upon hire
Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support and ACLS - Advanced
Cardiac Life Support Must-Have: Basic knowledge of cardiovascular
cath or electrophysiology procedures Ability to communicate and
understand verbal and written English Description: The
Cardiovascular Technologist I is a professional training to assist
during diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiovascular
procedures. He/she will train to assist the physician during the
procedures and operate specialized equipment in a safe and
efficient manner. The Cardiovascular Technologist I is responsible
for maintaining sterile technique during procedures. This role
focuses primarily on adults aged eighteen to sixty-five and
geriatric patients over the age of sixty-five. The technologist may
participate in the cath or EP call rotation once appropriately
oriented and checked off on clinical and operational competencies.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Will train to assist
the physician in the performance of facility-specific
cardiovascular cath and EP procedures. Will train to function in
monitoring, scrubbing, or circulating roles. Able to use critical
thinking skills. Work in conjunction with interventional
cardiologists, electrophysiologists, and cardiologists. Will train
to prep and educate the patient for the procedure. Demonstrates and
understands sterile technique. Job Responsibilities: Must be
flexible with hours to meet departmental needs. Able to work
scheduled and cath lab on-call hours when allowed. Knows existing
lines of communication and authority. Handles communications
properly. Introduces self to the patient and/or guardian utilizing
proper scripting. Transports patients as needed. Provides privacy
and comfort for patients. Assists with maintenance of departmental
records, Joint Commission standards, and State and Federal
Regulations. Learns how to enter data into cath lab logs and verify
accuracy and completeness. Completes necessary paperwork and
answers departmental phone using proper scripting. Maintains stock
levels and outdates. Maintains current License and BLS/ACLS
certifications. Works as a team with other staff to obtain the best
possible outcome. Performs any other duties as needed when asked by
leadership. Prepares necessary supplies and equipment for the
procedure. Quality and Patient Safety: Verifies patient ID using
two patient identifiers, i.e., armband, DOB, verbal identification.
Verifies the front of the patient chart for same/similar name
sticker. Verifies Written Order and Consent, seeking clarification
if order or consent is unclear. Uses and understands pre-procedural
verification/time-out forms. Understands and complies with
site/side marking when indicated. Patient Education: Will train to
provide patient, family, and support system education. Will train
to learn how to provide patient education as it relates to their
procedure. Will train to provide post-procedural home care
instructions as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies
with all policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Required
Minimum Education: High School Diploma General or Associates in
Health Science preferred, or Accredited Program in Radiologic
Science preferred, or Bachelor's in Health Science preferred.
Required Minimum Skills: Basic knowledge of electrocardiography,
coronary heart disease, cardiac anatomy, and physiology preferred
with EKG interpretation. Basic knowledge of hemodynamics,
intracardiac electrograms, and electrophysiology equipment. Ability
to react quickly to emergency patient care situations. Ability to
maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees,
patients, families, and physicians. The individual must display a
