Position Summary The Payroll Assistant position responsible for supporting the payroll function as well as performing a variety of administrative tasks within the human resources department. This position reports to the Director of Payroll Compliance. Position Responsibilities

  • Prepare payroll calculations for multi-state payroll
  • Calculate wage and tax information for final checks
  • Create journal entries for wages, deductions, and payroll tax
  • Maintain payroll records in accordance with federal and state requirements
  • Set up new hires in HRIS, time entry program, and third-party benefit sites
  • Assist with the update/maintenance of employee records in HRIS and other systems
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll
  • Assist in running monthly/quarterly and ad hoc payroll reports for various departments
  • Assist with various HR/Payroll duties and projects as assigned Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Knowledge of current wage/labor laws
    • Perform work accurately with strong attention to detail
    • Ability to meet frequent strict deadlines and have a strong sense of urgency
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive work-related information
    • Strong computer skills, including solid skill in the Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel) and familiarity with a variety of HR software programs (Paychex Flex, Taleo, and Benetrac preferred)
    • Availability to work evenings and weekends based on position needs Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related area plus 1-2 years of payroll entry/human resources administrative experience preferred, and/or appropriate balance of education and work experience.
