We have an opportunity for a talented and dynamic claims professional to join our Employment Practices Liability (EPL) claims team as a Claims Specialist. This position provides specialized technical claim handling for primary and excess claims for Public and Private Companies, Financial Institutions and Private Equity firms. NOTE: Location is flexible.Key Duties and Responsibilities:* Analyze insurance coverage issues and drafting coverage position letters reflecting same.* Investigate liability and damages issues in connection with claims made against our insureds and maintain appropriate documentation in claims files.* Evaluate liability issues and damages and make accurate reserve recommendations .* Assign and supervise outside counsel in the defense of our insureds in an effort to effectively resolve claims.* Maintain and develop relationships with insureds, brokers and outside counsel.* Professionally represent AXIS in the marketplace, as needed, and assist claims management underwriting as needed, including providing prompt claim updates.* Respond to broker and insured inquiries with a high level of customer service and responsiveness.* Assess claims to support EPL claim metrics/trends in coordination with management.* Participate in special projects and department initiatives as needed.* Communicate regularly with Manager, Senior Claims and Underwriting Managers on losses, reserving, coverage matters and any industry or claims trends.* Occasionally attend mediations/settlement conferences and successfully resolve claims.* Provide best-in-class claims service.Qualifications:*A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.*Minimum of 2 years of experience handling Employment Practices Liability, Miscellaneous Errors and Omissions, Lawyers, Accountants, Architects and Engineers, or related Professional Liability claims, or in private practice as an attorney in a related field.Other desired skills and characteristics:* Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment.* Comfort level in remote and virtual work-from-home practice and platforms.* Prior exposure to employment law, public company and middle-market D&O or E&O matters a plus.* Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization and with external clients and others in a prompt, concise and appropriate manner.* Team player willing to proactively assist the wider organization as needed.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.* Excellent time management skills.* Demonstrated negotiation and analytical skills.* Adjuster licenses where required (AXIS will work with the successful candidate to obtain licensure).For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $100,000 to $125,000 (NJ). The specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including the experience of the successful candidate and their work location.In addition, all employees are eligible for competitive incentive targets, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
