Greyling Insurance Brokerage & Risk Consulting, a division of
EPIC, is seeking an attorney with experience in transactions,
litigation, and insurance related to construction industry clients
to serve as a Senior Client Advisor on our team based in
Alpharetta, Georgia. This is an excellent opportunity for a

In your role as Senior Client Advisor, you will use your legal
background to assist our professional services and construction
clients with contractual risk management, claims administration,
coverage advocacy, mergers & acquisitions, loss control and
training, and insurance program design, placement, and stewardship.
As a member of our Greyling leadership team, you will work
alongside industry veterans, other attorneys, and paralegals in the
delivery of industry-leading insurance and risk management
services.
You will be based in our Alpharetta, Georgia office with
expectations to be in the office at least three days a week but
with flexibility to work remotely at other times.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Contract Risk Analysis, Drafting & Negotiation
Review and analyze design, consulting, and construction-related
contracts to identify contractual risk exposures and provide
practical advice to clients and prospective clients regarding
business risks, insurability, and risk mitigation strategies
Provide clients with contractual risk-management guidance,
strategies, and training
Engage with clients and their in-house/outside counsel, clients'
customers, and other relevant stakeholders as necessary to
negotiate and finalize contractual risk and insurance
provisions
Work with other attorneys and at least one paralegal in the
administration of contract analysis services
Provide guidance to teammates regarding insurance policy
interpretation, contractual insurance requirements, and various
complex insurance and risk management issues
Claims Management
Assist clients in the recognition and reporting of claims and
circumstances across all coverage lines handled by Greyling
Engage in complex claims management as needed, particularly with
respect to claims involving professional liability, mixed coverage
between various insurance policies, pollution exposures, property
damage, auto accidents, construction defects, employee injuries,
cyber attacks and events, employment matters, and other insurable
issues
Zealously advocate for insurance coverage with claims adjusters,
insurer attorneys, third-party administrators, underwriters, and
coverage counsel for clients in the face of coverage positions or
denials from insurers, including influencing selection of counsel
and legal strategies
Understanding impact of claims outcomes, including subrogation, on
insurance renewal processes
Prepare for and lead client claims reviews, including management of
claims notes, reserves, and action items
Conduct client and internal training related to claims
identification, mitigation, reporting, and conclusion
Client Development and Retention
Review prospective client insurance programs, contracts, and other
relevant information, and identify coverage gaps and/or contractual
exposures in preparation for capabilities presentations to
prospective clients
Assist in the solicitation of new business, including participating
in capabilities presentations, responses to requests for proposals,
and other business development activities in-person and via
videoconferencing
Engage regularly with current clients to discuss risk, exposures,
market conditions, significant activities and services performed
for clients, open claims status, loss history, and other regular
client interactions
Legal Department Assistance and Due Diligence
Provide advice and guidance to clients regarding legal issues and
risk, including transactional matters, pre-litigation disputes, and
other corporate legal needs
Prepare, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements
Participate in client merger & acquisitions activities, including
performing due diligence, risk analyses, reviewing and negotiating
transactional documents, managing outside counsel, placement of
transactional insurance (such as Representations & Warranty
Insurance), and assisting with insurance coordination and
consolidation post-transaction
Assist with any special requests involving a client's legal
department
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
Maintain all required law/insurance licenses and current knowledge
of insurance contracts and industry trends
Attend seminars, workshops, continuing education, and training
programs, as necessary and appropriate
Draft articles, blog posts, and other commentary regarding
insurance and legal topics of interest to construction
contractors
Occasional travel to client and conference locations within the
United States with potential international travel in the future
Education, Experience, Licenses/Certifications
J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school
At least 5 years of commercial construction law experience, with
preference for candidates with prior work in insurance coverage
disputes, construction claims and litigation, drafting and
negotiation of professional services and construction contracts,
and mergers & acquisitions due diligence
Active member in good standing of at least one State Bar
May be required to obtain Property & Casualty agent/producer
license(s) or other professional designations
Obtain IRMI Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS)
designation within one year of hire
Required Competencies, Skills, And Abilities
Ability to effectively build relationships with clients, insurers
(underwriting, claims, and risk management), and peers; position
requires teamwork, poise, tact, and diplomacy
Working knowledge of professional liability and other property &
casualty insurance policies, with ability to efficiently locate all
potentially applicable coverages, limits, self-insured
retentions/deductibles, exclusions, limitations, conditions, and
other provisions relevant to a claims situation
Strong contract drafting, editing, and negotiation skills
Ability to negotiate with underwriters, claims adjusters, coverage
counsel, and/or monitoring counsel to positively impact the outcome
of a claim
Excellent time management, organizational, and multi-tasking
skills, with attention to detail
Desire and ability to work in fast-paced environment while managing
multiple competing tasks and demands
Ability to work both independently and in cross-functional
teams
Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and public
speaking skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel,
PowerPoint)
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with sound
judgment
May be required to work extra hours with no restrictions
