The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) holds a strategic role working with the Executive Leadership Team to model and evaluate business strategies. Reporting into the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Legal Officer, The CFO acts as a primary advisor on financial matters. The CFO oversees the fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for the organization including reporting financial performance and activities to the Board of Directors and Finance Committee. This includes the responsibility for year-end financial activities, executive management reporting, developing and administering the annual budget, treasury responsibilities, auditing internal business practices, leading organizational improvement initiatives, audits, and risk management activities, while ensuring the operational excellence of the Finance division. The CFO provides overall direction to ensure that business and financial objectives are achieved consistent with the policies and procedures, and within ethical guidelines of the organization.. PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:. Develop strategic business plans and financial forecasts relating to financial management.. Develop/maintain organization’s management policies, practices, and controls, adhering to applicable laws, company policy, and recognized financial standards to ensure the financial health of the organization.. Direct and manage the financial planning and reporting, accounting, taxes, budgeting, procurement, leasing, investment, internal auditing, insurance, and financial records management of the organization.. Ensure accurate financial reporting, including financial statements, along with state, federal and other reporting obligations.. Champion and role model increased usage of automation and other systems, tools, and methods for streamlining work within the Finance division.. Provide financial leadership and advice on decisions and issues, as well as on the impact of long-range planning, new programs/strategies, and regulatory action.. Develop, publish, and improve internal Standard Operating Procedures for areas of responsibility.. Maintain ongoing relationships with appropriate banking institutions and vendors.. Audit departments and help inform business and operational business models.. Perform duties and fulfill responsibilities that may, from time to time, include related or unrelated tasks.. Assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and the company's long-term strategy.. Develop tools and systems to provide critical and timely financial and operational information and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.. Act as strategic business partner on financial matters and provide objective counsel more broadly across key strategic areas.. Provide support, guidance, and assistance for organizational growth/transformation.. Assist in establishing yearly objectives and meeting agendas, and selecting and engaging outside consultants (including auditors, investment advisors, and financial systems providers) as needed to ensure completion of the work.. Oversee long-term budgetary planning and costs management aligned with the company's strategic plan.. Collaborate cross-functionally with each member of executive leadership team to achieve organization objectives.. Financial and Operational Management:. Oversee accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and state and federal regulatory requirements.. Manage cash flow and forecasting. Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.. Lead banking relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance liquidity while minimizing costs.. Oversee operational planning including budgeting and the implementation of budgets and forecasts to monitor progress and present financial metrics both internally and externally.. Team Management:. Manage, mentor, and develop a team by managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, and professional learning strategies – in order to build of an effective Finance team.. Responsible for supporting operational and managerial accounting and cost accounting.. Plan, develop, direct, and evaluate the organization’s fiscal function and performance, including management of the forecast and budget processes.. JOB REQUIREMENTS:. Education & Experience:. Bachelor’s degree in a Finance-related discipline and at least fifteen (15) years of broad-based accounting, finance operations, and treasury experience required (or an MBA with 10 years of related experience). Experience managing the finance function (accounting, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, control, payroll, and reporting) as well as operational teams of a mid-sized, multi-state organization (approximately $100 million in revenues). Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification required. Solid GAAP and financial reporting technical skills required. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage a remote team. Exceptional analytical, communication and presentation skills. Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis. Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills who can dissect complex issues and make thoughtful recommendations and action plans. Proven ability to persuade, build consensus and work on a collaborative team basis with all levels of management, internally and externally. Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, environment. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results. Strategic leader with experience developing team and others. Proficiency with financial software. Solid financial reporting technical skills. Anticipated Travel (may include local, national, and/or international travel):. Light travel (10-20%). The CFO will work on site at our Alpharetta, GA headquarters, with the option of a partially remote schedule.
