POSITION SUMMARY:

Part of the CLQ Legal Bill Review team responsible for review of legal invoices to ensure that the fees and expenses are necessary, reasonable and in compliance with billing guidelines. Supports management of legal representation services performed by law firms representing the company and or its insureds for specific departments or business units and is accountable with the rest of the team for the resulting business financial and service quality impacts. Functions as a service liaison between brokers, insureds and claimants, and the professional staff by providing necessary administrative support to allow Claims Analysts/Claims Specialists to focus on evaluating and setting claims. Serves as back-up to the Claims Administration Supervisor and supports other claims offices as needed Performs a wide variety of other metric collection and data analysis activities. This position can be based in Alpharetta, GA, Berkeley Heights, NJ, or Kansas City, MO.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews and analyzes legal bills for reasonableness and ensure compliance with billing guidelines, industry standards and business rules to ensure payment of only reasonable and necessary charges.

  • Adjusts invoices in the system and manually as appropriate and makes recommendations regarding billing issues which arise

  • Meets production and quality guidelines.

  • Reviews internal claim systems for claims detail. Communicates with claim professionals to determine prior authorization or exception approval, and researches and resolving customer inquiries and reconsideration of appeals.

  • Participates in special projects as assigned.

  • Coordinates schedules for Legal and Claim Audits.

  • Gathers relevant information and documents, compiles data to compose, edit, revise, tabulate and print letters, tables, reports and other materials.

  • Provides recordkeeping support as needed.

  • Processes incoming wire transfers as needed.

  • Provides daily work oversight in support of Claims Supervisor and Professional Staff

  • Assists in problem solving all clerical processes and coding entries

  • Assists in Vendor Payment Allocation across applicable claim files,

  • Assists with coordination of projects and special assignments such as audit preparation

REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

  • Paralegal Certification or relevant experience.

  • 2 years law firm, bill review or claim experience.

  • Excellent communications (telephone, e-mail and interpersonal) skills as required.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a customer-centric outlook

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Software: All Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word, Excel

OTHER DESIRED SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Knowledge of the litigation process and legal terminology required.

  • Experience with attorney billings a plus.

  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepares reports.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, and professionally both orally and in writing.

  • Database and records management skills.

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with various lines of business.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.

  • Ability to create, compose and edit written materials.

  • General office experience preferred.

  • Demonstrates a high degree of initiative, maturity, good judgment, and discretion.

  • Demonstrates effective organization, time management and customer service skills.

  • Demonstrates proficiency with basic computer skills using MS Office Applications (Excel and Word). Proficiency with Access, and SharePoint a plus.
