Position Overview:

Under general direction from the Director of Payroll Shared Services, the payroll administrator is responsible for all tasks necessary to accomplish the organizations multi-state payroll processing objectives with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. This position requires an extremely detail orientated person with significant knowledge of payroll administration, including state and federal regulations. This position processes all payroll related time entry, reports, benefit deductions, W2 and audit document requests, as well as assists with department projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Including but not limited to the following)

  • Prepare and process semi-monthly payroll for multiple states
  • Accurately process data for new hires, terminations, rate changes, position changes, leaves of absence, etc.
  • Monitor/review employees time and attendance on a weekly basis
  • Maintain employee leave balances, benefit payroll deductions, and garnishments
  • Run and provide payroll reports to appropriate team members
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and irregularities
  • Assist with verifications of employment requests
  • Assist with HRIS system maintenance
  • Assist with providing information and documents for internal and external audits
  • Comply with local, state, and federal payroll regulations
  • Coordinate, track, and report completion of various employee required tasks
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect HR and payroll operations by keeping information confidential
  • Assist with departmental projects
  • Other tasks, as assigned

Desired Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; Bachelors degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years experience preparing and processing payroll
  • Solid understanding of federal and state wage and hour laws including payroll, taxes, withholding, deductions, and garnishments
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to review, analyze and interpret information as well as trouble-shoot to solve problems
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize several tasks without compromising quality of work or mission deadlines
  • Knowledge of Business English and ability to communicate patiently and professionally with both internal and external customers, both orally and in writing
  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Proficient with payroll software. Knowledge of Paylocity is a plus.
