The Opportunity

OpenText Business Network Engineering is strengthening its global presence in Alpharetta location, and we are currently looking for a Cloud Application Engineer to engage hands-on in complex problem solving with local application engineering and product engineering teams.

The Cloud Application Engineer is an individual contributor in Application Engineering team reporting to the senior manager. Cloud Application Engineer is highly focused in supporting applications and infrastructure for OpenText platforms and is responsible for ensuring that application solutions are consistent with the overall architecture. Cloud Application Engineer performs installations, configuration, administration, on-call duty and tuning of software products. They run necessary maintenance tasks such as upgrades and provide technical support and troubleshooting of application related issues. The Cloud Application Engineer will work closely with software development, customer support, and infrastructure teams and will provide 2nd level support when needed.

You are great at

  • Patch management, Installation, configuration, administration and automation of software products for both non-production and production environments.
  • May require shift work; On-call rotation is required as 7x24x365 support of the mission critical applications and services is required
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting of application related issues.
  • Delivering tested and verified solutions while adhering to change management policies and practices.
  • Setup, gather and evaluate performance data with different monitoring tools such as Zabbix, New Relic
  • Analyze the data, spot the trend, make the forecast
  • Provide improvement and recommendation to management and technical team

What it takes

  • 5+ years' experience in managing mission critical enterprise applications. Degree in technical sciences is preferable.
  • Strong experience in multiple technologies including Java related technologies, monitoring tools and automation.
  • Experience in managing Windows server, Linux server and relational database basics.
  • Experience in authentication management basics.
  • Understanding of software architecture and programming principles (Java).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in implementing application solutions that are consistent with the overall architecture both documented and implied.
  • Experience in the delivery of tested and verified solutions.

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Application clustering / load balancing concepts
  • Understanding network topologies and common network protocols and services (DNS, HTTP(S), SSH, FTP, SMTP, DHCP, TCP, IP etc)
  • Experience monitoring cloud services with New Relic, Zabbix, SentinelOne, LogRhythem tools
  • Awareness and insight into industry trends (technology, methods and tooling)
