Job Description:

The Data Architect, Senior plays a role in the definition of data management related strategies including data design, data integration, data governance, data quality, metadata management, master data management.  Senior Data Architects will also partner with the development community to provide data architecture related expertise in a variety of projects and initiatives.  You will be working in an Agile environment on a talented business intelligence team, delivering software solutions utilized by internal and external customers.  The candidate should have a passion for data, as well as data analysis, and be very detailed oriented in maintaining design and quality standards.  This position will require close collaboration with your delivery team, product owners and managers, and the QA team. Essential Job Responsibilities: 

•Lead the development and execution of a data architecture roadmap for a new fraud and financial crimes product platform

•Be a key contributor to the program team and provide authoritative technical inputs based on data quality and integrity to the overall project to ensure success

•Responsible for influencing projects/initiatives and making decisions related to data including data quality, data architecture and data management best practices.

•Provide expert data modeling and data validation services that produce flexible, extensible data structure design solutions that support effective business decisions.

•Develop and implement strategies for the development of data pipelines with a focus on cloud platforms.

•Mapping of relational entities to use cases or business requirements and assisting in the development of data services.

•Create and manage an array of data design deliverables including data models, data diagrams, data flows and corresponding data dictionary documentation.

•Follow standards for database design and overall data architecture to assess data quality and act as a liaison with various technical service teams which include database administrators and platform administrators.

•Assist in leading the development and implementation of various strategic data architecture initiatives around master data management, data quality, data management policies/standards, data governance, and metadata management.

Liaise with external partners to ensure adherence to data requirements that enable the development of quality machine learning models.

•Serve as an advocate for the data architecture team and data management discipline, policies and standards across the business unit.

•Assist in determining the effectiveness of existing technologies and processes in relation to the data architecture, create necessary implementation/migration plans, and recommend new solutions as required.

•Identify opportunities for sharing and utilizing data across boundaries, thus extracting maximum benefit from the data resource.

•Lead associates in data utilization; understanding and interpreting raw data and converting it into information.

•Support analysts in requirements development, research and verification

Required Qualifications:

Education Required

•Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field; or equivalent work experience.

  • Masters/Ph.D. in computer science, information science, computer engineering, mathematics, or related field -a plus

Experience Required

•8+ years of experience in data architecture principles, methods, techniques and technologies.

•8+ years of experience in data modeling large, complex database systems (350+ tables), Big Data Platform Architectures, Distributed Databases

•Demonstrated ability to define and execute deliverables on time and in budget.

•Proven background of designing and implementing architectural solutions which solve strategic and tactical business needs.

Skills and Knowledge Required

•Strong technical understanding of data modeling, design and architecture principles and techniques across master data, transaction data and derived/analytic data.

•Deep knowledge of best practices through relevant experience across data-related disciplines and technologies, particularly for enterprise-wide data architectures, data management, data governance and data warehousing.

•Highly competent with relational database design and structured query language (SQL).

•Strong familiarity with data management tools, including enterprise repository tools, data modeling tools, data quality tools, data mapping tools, and data profiling tools.

•Solid understanding of Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse technologies (e.g., Business Objects, Netezza, Oracle, SQL Server, Informatica) Hands on experience a plus.

•Strong aptitude to learn business processes/products and the role of data within the business domain.

•Strong conceptual knowledge of roles and responsibilities within BI and Data Warehousing (DA, ETL, BI, DBA, SE, QA, and PM).

•Working knowledge of Agile SDLC.

•Proficiency in at least one programming language used in data science (e.g. R, Python) including common data science toolkits native to that language.

•Proficiency in structured or unstructured database types and query languages (e.g. SQL, MongoDB, HBase, Hive and Pig)

•Must be a recognized leader of data advocacy.

•Demonstrated ability to balance architectural theory with practical solutions.

•Ability to adapt quickly in a rapidly changing dynamic environment

•Ability to manage a large workload covering multiple projects and business disciplines.

•Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.

•Financial Industry experience a plus.

•Highly refined communication skills including facilitation, presentation, and documentation.

•Excellent organizational skills.

•Excellent negotiating skills.
