We also offer systematic alpha and alternative strategies to complement clients' core holdings.General DescriptionThe Operations Oversight Associate is responsible for working across the broader separately managed accounts (SMA) operations department to discover, understand, and mitigate risk. This associate works to support various functions, including portfolio reconciliation, corporate actions, and trade settlements, as well as various office locations, including Seattle, WA, Boston, MA, and others. This position will independently process tasks that review large reconciliation breaks, unmanaged assets, client directed security and cash flows, unelected voluntary corporate actions, and other high-risk areas within operations. A successful associate will also continuously work to better understand the broader department, the risk profile, and create new and novel ways to assess and mitigate risk. This associate should be able to work comfortably with large sets of data and has strong analytical skills, attention to details, problem solving and good communication skills.Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with the Portfolio Reconciliation department to understand risk related to unreconciled position and cash items. Independently review high risk reconciliation breaks, using source data, in order to deeply interrogate root cause and signoff on mitigation steps used by other teams
  • Work with the Corporate Actions department to understand voluntary corporate action workflow, elections, and risk related to these items. Independently review voluntary corporate actions in order to ensure that all elections are processed, and that instructions match the intent of portfolio managers
  • Review and evaluate a broader portfolio of audit outputs for SMA operations to ensure that exceptions are addressed timely and accurately
  • Understand current state process and data flow for operations, and work to create tasks to mitigate the existing risk in this process, with an eye towards proposing enhancements
  • Review and evaluate audit outputs of department's work to ensure that exceptions are addressed timely and accurately.
  • Work with information technology teams to create new, automated reports and audits to mitigate riskQualifications Job Requirements
    • Bachelor's (4yr) degree w/ concentration in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Management or related area of study
    • 1-2 years prior operations experience (e.g. reconciliation, trade settlement processing, corporate action processing, pricing, etc.) preferred.
    • Competent in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Word)
    • Ability to work independently and self-manage high volumes of data with tight deadlines
    • Well organized, self-starter with the ability to analyze information
    • Strong communication skills
    • Experience with VBA and Macros a plus
    • Advent APX, Bloomberg and reconciliation experience a plus
