Job Requisition ID: 86897 This is a HYBRID role: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday on site - Monday and Friday work from home Summary: The top priority is to be a servant-leader for the teams you will support. You should encourage a healthy work environment that is supportive and challenging. - i.e., don't punish people who make production mistakes - coach the person and fix the process. We try to avoid assigning blame of an incident to a person. Empower the teams you'll support by discussing problems and allowing them to drive solutions -avoid handing down requirements. This approach improves problem-solving and innovation. Build self-driving teams, which include consultants, through empowerment, autonomy, blameless culture, and shared prioritization. Proactively build high-performing, diverse and inclusive teams by working with HR, DE, and Year-Up organizations. Strive to achieve operational excellence by improving the availability and reliability of services. However, 100% shouldn't be the target because that leads to fewer changes and more technical debt. Allowing the team to take risks typically increases innovation and effective problem-solving. This doesn't negate the need to have robust test practice in place. Core Responsibilities: Manage a budget that exceeds $ 30 m. This budget includes CAPex and OPex. Work collaboratively with finance and strategic partners to manage the budget effectively. Manage over 50 ad-hoc and annual contracts a year from creation to signature. Build and lead teams of talented engineers, architects and project managers to achieve high levels of technical excellence, project execution and platform stability Provide engineering and architecture support for services that runs on Mainframe and public cloud infrastructure. Strive to ensure the following services are scalable, reliable, secure, and performant: Mainframe Security (ACF2, Sailpoint, EKC tools...) Mainframe Operating System and 80+ products Mainframe Storage (HSM, DS800, TS7700..) Mainframe API enablement and gateway (z/OS Connect, SOAP, and REST APIs) Mainframe middleware services (CICS, MQ) Mainframe customization - over 80 system exits (assembler written code) Mainframe DevOPS tools (ISPW, Omegamon, MaTuner, zAdvisor,Topaz, DumpMaster, Xpeditor and FileAid) Mainframe Batch services (JES, EJES) Mainframe document and output management (SAVRS, TRMS) Scheduling Services (ESP and Stonebranch UAC) Develop strong relationships with SAAS and Managed Services partners such as Pivitor, OneAdvanced, TCS, Seven/Seven, and others to ensure they are focused on delivering key outcomes for NYL. Partner with leaders and teams throughout OneTech to implement modernization and integration services. This collaboration includes supporting our Client System and PAS modernization initiatives. Work with critical stakeholders across the following business units. Agency Technology Core Insurance Tech Corporate Tech Enterprise Data Management Enterprise Integration Services Investment Technology Retail Life Service Strategic Insurance Business Deliver OKRs and roadmaps in partnership with your peers to drive alignment with the company's and department's objectives. Design and approve microservices based solutions and strategy Project Management - effectively manage about 8 large-scale, cross-functional projects simultaneously. Service delivery - deliver easy-to-consume services to our internal customers. Then provide 24/7 engineering support. Support application teams as our customers by encapsulating the complexity of the services they consume. Empower application teams to meet business and product needs through a robust CI/CD pipeline focused on improving the following: Lead time to production change frequency Time To Recover Discovery and Research Work with internal and external partners to stay informed on the new capabilities being developed in the Mainframe and orchestration space. Top skills for the role: Excellent leadership and people management Experience leading Large multi-team projects Experience presenting and communicating complex technical topics Strong communication with users, technical teams, and senior leaders. Experience working with scripting and coding languages such as JCL, Python, JAVA, Terraform, Ansible, REXX, and COBOL. Experience with Mainframe enterprise systems, which include mainframe technology such as z/OS, WLM, ISPF, TSO, ACF2, NodeJs, z/OSMF, CICS, GDGs, VSAM, z/OS connect, HMS, Messaging/Queuing, ISPW..etc Experience with cloud-based distributed systems, which include tools such as Linux, EC2, RDS, EKC, S3, and other AWS services. Various experiences across different spaces, automating routine tasks, troubleshooting, performance management, Cybersecurity, and networking. Strong knowledge of the insurance domain and applications used to service our external customers.
