Accommodation is available upon request for candidates taking part in the selection process.The Product Innovation Leader, Specialty Accident & Health, will be responsible for the overall strategic product management and the project management of onboarding of all new deals for the Specialty Accident & Health area within the Accident & Health Division.This individual should be recognized as a technical expert in Accident & Health products and the related products within the Specialty Accident & Health product portfolio. Their prior experience will include designing, creating, revising, and implementing products that are distributed to non-employer groups. The role will include researching the product benefits, features, and related services to identify minimum standards to maintain a competitive position in the market segment. The products and services will be relevant and capable of meeting the various target market needs, enabling the organization to achieve its revenue and profit business plans. The leader will establish relationships with peers in other companies and industry groups such as Target Markets, SIIA, NAPIA, USTIA and practices leaders from key distribution partners. The leader will collaborate within AXIS, coordinating the activities of internal functions in compliance, actuarial, underwriting operations, product development, distribution and claims ensuring timely delivery of new and revised products in an annual cadence.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and implement new and enhanced products and service strategies in North America. Manages a profitable products and services portfolio, employing the appropriate diagnostic and systematic analysis to assess acceptability.
  • Define project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases, and elements; forming project team; establishing a project budget.
  • Facilitate project governance, executive status meetings and project team status meetings, by defining agendas and running meetings effectively. Provide updates on project status, key metrics, issues, and risks.
  • Coordinate delivery of moderate to complex project deliverables during all project stages, i.e., Ideation, Planning, Execution, and Closure while adhering to the governance protocols which includes setting deadlines throughout various stages of the project lifecycle to ensure timely delivery of products and/or services
  • Supports long-term and short-term business strategies to effectively achieve profit and growth objectives for assigned products.
  • Collaborates with Compliance and Product Development to monitor appropriate governance processes and controls to ensure regulatory compliance for AXIS and strategic partners.
  • Assists Product Development with responses to objections and inquiries from regulatory agencies in response to filings, ensuring timely delivery of new and revised products to the market.
  • Works with Distribution, Actuarial and Underwriting to ensure a profitable portfolio of accounts supporting strategic business plans designed to increase the business's presence in the market; retain the appropriate mix of business and achieve overall growth and profit objectives.
  • As needed, develops specialized policy and endorsement language for highly complex risks, working with Claims, Legal, and Product Development.
  • Keeps current on state and regional issues and regulations, industry activity and trends. Adheres to all regulatory and compliance standards. May participate in industry trade groups.
  • Actively participates in the development of product training programs
  • Responsible for special projects and presentations as requested.
  • Approximately 20% travelRequired Education/Training & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; professional designations preferred.
    • A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience.
    • In-depth knowledge of A&H lines of business
    • Advanced technical expertise in Accident & Health insurance contract structure underwriting skills and an in-depth level of knowledge of (re)insurance and underwriting principles, practices, and procedures; ability to effectively analyze and assess risk.
    • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
    • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners
    • Advanced analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
    • Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills reflective of a progression of positions with increasing responsibility
    • Ability to operate with ambiguity and willingness to challenge the status quo
    • Sense of urgency and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong analytical & focused approach to complex problem solving
    • Experience in supporting large complex projects and insurance programs a plus
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related softwareFor this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $99,000-$120,000 (IL), $110,000-$140,000 (NJ), $115,000-$150, 000 (NY). The specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including the experience of the successful candidate and their work location. In addition, all employees are eligible for competitive incentive targets, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
