Job Description:

Job Summary
This position develops Information Services Management (ISM) strategy, initiatives, and governing policies. He/She creates architecture solutions, builds consensus, and sells and executes solutions across the enterprise. This position defines the technical direction for individual projects and solution architecture across multiple initiatives and system areas. He/She supports ISM leadership by planning and championing the execution of broad initiatives aimed at delivering value to internal and external stakeholders. This position leverages knowledge of the business domain and a broad set of technical skills to drive the development of technical frameworks and solutions at enterprise levels. He/She interfaces across business areas, acting as a visionary to assist in defining direction. This position is involved with strategic portfolio and enterprise planning and individual projects.

We need a seasoned technical leader to drive the strategic vision of various customer facing products and programs across UPS Digital & Commercial Technology while delighting customers with roadmap execution. This position defines the technical direction for solution architectures across multiple system areas including UPS.com, Mobile, Shipping, Tracking, Sales, Customer Service, Billing and Retail. Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the governance, architecture practice leadership, strategies, building blocks, methods, and work products.
  • Directs the analysis, design, and delivery of solutions for defining the direction for projects.
  • Facilitates review boards and interfaces with Senior Management to build consensus, deliver recommendations, and set strategy/policy.
  • Manages the architecture governance process to define direction for mission critical solutions.
  • Adopts and applies emerging technology and industry best practices.
  • Oversees the creation and management of enterprise applications, information, and strategies.
  • Leads cross functional teams in the development of critical enterprise technology strategies.
  • Work closely with a variety of teams to develop technology strategies, architectural blueprints, roadmaps, and perspectives throughout the UPS Enterprise including leading an API first design pattern and API Fraud mitigation.
  • Guide other architects in devising meaningful ways to improve the UPS business through shared roadmaps, technologies, and partnerships
  • Advise cross-functional leaders in defining priorities, key initiatives, and organizational alignment to inform and support business decisions
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies and software that enhance the digital experience for Customers and Partners
  • Inspire and guide strategic direction of emerging and new technologies through active product and program engagement while balancing InfoSec initiatives to risks, business operations and innovations
  • Develop, advocate, and manage principles, practices, patterns, and appropriate governance to help infuse new technologies and advanced analytics being deployed
  • Identify and share architectural interdependencies between programs across the enterprise
  • Assist in developing proposals for enterprise technology strategies based on environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value, and risk
  • Enable the understanding and adoption of the technology architectures with product and service teams
  • Lead in shaping technology of programs spanning multiple businesses in the enterprise to promote strategic technology transformation
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree or International equivalent
    • Bachelor's Degree or International equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics or related discipline - Preferred
    • Master's Degree or International equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics or related discipline - Preferred
    • 10 or more years of IT experience
    • 7 or more years of department level (or greater) process design, technical proofs of concept, and/or solution design experience involving multiple leading--edge technologies, including Cloud
    • At least five years of architecture or enterprise level analytical experiences including systems and data architectures, security assuagement and network designs
    • At least three years participating in departmental (or greater) strategic technology planning
