Primetals Technologies, a worldwide leading engineering and manufacturer of capital equipment for the steel making industry, known for our strengths in mechanical engineering, power electronics, automation, and power system manufacturing, project management and service is hiring for the following position: Consulting Systems Engineer - SVC Engineer Power

Location: Alpharetta, GA Required Travel : 0-70% (Domestic & International)
Required Education: Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (preferably in Power Systems) or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of related experience in the field of substations and industrial electrification projects, executing commissioning or field service. Professional Engineer Certification is an added plus.


Position Overview : Perform design, development, testing, documentation, installation, and commissioning, of power systems to meet customer requirements. Support sales efforts through proposal support, cost estimation, and contribute to presenting technical papers. Define equipment to be purchased, develop engineering procurement specifications, and interact with vendors. Coordinate and conduct training for customers and coworkers. Comply with company standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities: Area of responsibility is primarily tactical/operational in nature and include:

• Lead and support SVC and STATCOM system Projects as Project Engineer and Lead Engineer
  
• Create purchase orders for various local and international vendors as [art of the SVC system
  
• Create cable schedules and interface coordination with Siemens Germany and Customer
  
• Review SVC and STATCOM mechanical and electrical drawings and coordinate with civil and construction companies to make sure the building and foundations design engineers have relevant information from all the vendors
  
• Support SVC and STATCOM commissioning
  
• Perform SVC and STATCOM Preventive Maintenance
  
• Perform site training of SVC and STATCOM operation and maintenance
  
• Develop into and Serve as the point of contact and a conduit for subject matter expert for maintenance & repair of SVC and STATCOM systems. Customer support will be provided via phone communication and deployments to the customer site. Engineering support will be provided from Primetals US and Siemens Germany
  
• Take ownership of customer issues and work collaboratively with project managers, Engineering and Service Sales to resolve the issues in a timely manner.
  
• Provide technical expertise, direction, and guidance to customers on installation, commissioning and issues related to SVC and STATCOM.
  
• Leading customer training efforts on the SVC and STATCOM.
  
• Support sales efforts during customer site visits, campaigning for and capturing potential business leads.
